Artist's Comments

A weird one for me I guess!

First off, this is a logo for my student union, the Falmouth & Exeter Student Union, which I didn't design the original of, but was asked to design a remake of it based on the original. The original can be seen on the FXU website! [link] Hooray!

They use a version of the logo linked to the idea of environment & being environmentally friendly etc on some cotton tote bags they give out at Freshers. I'm very honoured to have got the chance to do the logo this year, & SUPER honoured to be seeing it on the bags in September! I love my university & the opportunity to contribute some of my (weak ; P) design skills to the FXU has been a dream.

I have to admit slightly cheating if you're looking at it & going OOO CLEAN LINES PRETTY. I didn't trust myself with Illustrator & vectoring lines despite wanting them really clean, so I went the long way round ;P The whole thing was painted out by hand in Photoshop using a hard round brush, (really REALLY carefully lol) then thrown through Live Trace in Illustrator.

I'm pretty pleased that my first serious foray into logo design turned out okay, & got a positive reception from the FXU team :)

Again, I :heart: my university. Crit & thoughts welcomed :)

Do you think you can get me a bag please?! That would be majorly cool!? Da you know I love it, I told you so already :heart: The lines are amazingly clean and hearing you did it all the hard way makes it all the more impressive!

Ahahaha, as soon as I work out how to grab you a bag, I shall do! I'm not even sure how to get myself a bag really, I know they give em to freshers but I'm not one of THOSE anymore...
Sankyuu :D I am so glad you like it! I'm sure the pen tool in Illustrator is the real hard way, I did it the easy way when you look at it because it meant I didn't need to grapple with a new tool :XD:

Lovely, clean lines. It's also really cute. I love the bubble letters and the small details of line variety. It's a really strong image in my mind
